CROWLEY - Friday’s school shooting in Newtown, Conn. which killed 28 people, including 20 of which that were children has not only shocked the nation but has also brought people, especially parents, across the country together who are sending out their support for the people of the small town.

Crowley is no different.

Wednesday night in Crowley at 6 p.m. on the walking track behind Crowley Kindergarten School on North Parkerson Ave., Rev. Jimmy Broussard and Chad Monceaux of the Crowley Fire Department are making sure that the citizens of Newton will know that Crowley supports them as they experience what must be unthinkable pain.

“We’re both parents and we knew it affected us deeply,” said Broussard Monday morning. “We would like for the citizens of Crowley to come out and show their support for the people of Newton because this is something that can happen anywhere at anytime. No one is immune to these tragedies.”

“It really seems like it’s touched a lot of people’s hearts,” said Monceaux. “It’s just something to show them that we care. We realize that there is only so much we can do but a child’s life is something that we, as Americans, must consider to be our most valuable resource.”

Broussard is also urging citizens to bring balloons and personal messages along with them. He is also in the process of getting some ministers to come to the event.

“One of the reasons we selected the walking track behind the kindergarten is because of the age of most of the children that were killed,” added Broussard.
