LAFAYETTE – Damon Richard Becnel of Destin, Fla. has chosen Kerry Anne Cully, also of Destin, to be his bride.

The couple has announced their engagement and intent to exchange nuptial vows Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. Justice of the Peace Mark Piazza will officiate the ceremony at the New Hope Chapel at Acadian Village in Lafayette.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Christopher Joseph and Aleathia Morley Cully of Shalimar, Fla. Her maternal grandparents are Beryl Joy Newman Morley of Cambridge, England and the late John Raymond Morley. Her paternal grandparents are Ann Glennon Cully of Chicago and the late Luke Cully.

The prospective groom is the son of Thomas Richard and Carla Becnel of Destin and the late Carol Aplin Becnel. His maternal grandparents are Lillian Sutton Aplin of Harrisonburg and the late Cater Freeman Aplin Jr., former mayor of Harrisonburg. Damon’s paternal grandparents are the late Col. Joseph Richard Becnel, United States Air Force, and his wife, the late Patricia Burns Becnel.

Kerry is a 2003 graduate of Choctawhatchee High School in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. and a 2006 graduate of Okaloosa-Walton Community College, which is now Northwest Florida State College.

Damon is a 1990 graduate of St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1997 from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Damon is a self-employed developer.

After their honeymoon, the newlyweds will reside in Destin along with their daughter, seven-year-old Annabella Alyene Becnel.
