The organizers of the newly created Daily Manna Christian Service Center, located at 600 Section Street, expect to open later next week to begin the process of taking applications for food and clothing assistance.

Deacon Tommy Adams says the newly named center will open as soon as a tax number is secured from the state.

Residents who seek assistance from the Daily Manna Christian Service Center are asked to supply the following information when making an application: picture ID, telephone number, street address, a recent utility bill, Social Security information, documents regarding SNAP food stamps or TANF, the number of family members and any declared child support payments.

Projected hours for the Center are Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 12 noon.

Anyone with questions or in need of additional information may call 337-393-2146 and leave a message. Calls will be returned.

Deacon Adams also announced the Center’s officers and board members.

Officers include Larry Van Pelt, president; Roger W. Hoskins, vice president; Maddie Besse, secretary-treasuer; along with ºAdams and Janet Boudreaux as authorized signing agents.

Board members include Zabaida Elahi, Calice Breaux, Pat Bordes II, Merlin Alleman, Father Richard Wagner, S.S.J., Lou Soileau and Mildred Young.
