LAKE CHARLES - Katy Lee Fontenot and Jason Earl Miller, both of Spring, Texas, have announced their engagement and commitment to be wed on Saturday, March 2.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Jimmy and Donna Fontenot of Lake Charles. She is the granddaughter of Mae Jones of Lake Charles and the late Desmond Jones, and Lee and Carrie Richard, also of Lake Charles, and the late Burtney Fontenot.

Katy graduated from Barbe High School before attending McNeese State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies and a master’s degree in teaching special education. She is presently employed as a developmental special education teacher at Krimmel Intermediate School in the Klein Independent School District.

The prospective groom is the son of Reggie and Mary Beth Miller of Iota. His maternal grandparents are Irma Darphin of Iota and the late George Darphin. His paternal grandparents are Joseph and Ella Mae Miller, also of Iota.

Jason, a graduate of Iota High School, attended McNeese State University, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in both management and general business while playing as a running back for the Cowboys football team. He is currently employed by National Oilwell Varco.

The couple will exchange vows during a 6:30 p.m. ceremony at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Lake Charles. Father Allen Troullier will officiate the nuptial service.

Following their marriage, the couple will reside in Spring.
