District play continued on a positive note for both the Wolves and Lady Wolves Tuesday evening as both squads captured district wins over Church Point.

With a 20-point first quarter run, the Wolves remained on top of the scoring for a 72-39 stomping over the Bears.

“We had some good runs,” stated long-time Rayne High Coach Louis Handy of his Wolves on the win, “But, it’s still not on the level we need to be at this point.”

“We need to be more polished at this point as we prepare to enter the second half of district play,” Handy continued. “When you take into consideration of district and post-season, we need to win all our home games and the majority of road games. And the way to do that, we need to increase our team play and work together.”

Michael Henry led Rayne High scores with 25 points, followed by Drakkar Broussard with 13, Peyton Larry at nine and Robert Butler finished with six.

Lady Wolves

The Lady Wolves collected a 60-41 win over the Lady Bears, seeing Rayne High taking a slim 16-13 first quarter lead and running with it to the finish line.

Tori Carriere and Naosha Leopaul topped Lady Wolves scores with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Rounding out Rayne scores were Whitley Larry with nine points, seven by Charlesha Dugas, Tanner Wilson with six, Zierra Gabrielle at five, four by Cierra Harmon, and a bucket each from Tristan Mouton, Courtlyn Evans and Deiasha Guidry.

The Wolves and Lady Wolves will host Eunice during an important district encounter for both squads. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. at the RHS north gym.

Friday’s game originally scheduled at POrt Barre was cancelled due to flooding and will be re-scheduled at a later date.
