The Rayne High Wrestling Team attended the 2013 LHSAA State Wrestling Championships on Feb. 15-16 at the Pontchartrain Center.
Of the team members in action, six Wolves placed, with another four contributing points. Rayne High finished seventh overall in Division III with 121.5 points.
Top-ranked Billy Marcantel took top honors and scored 28 points at 195 pounds. All three of his matches ended in pins, including the finals with a win over Tyler Sullivan of Calvary Baptist High School.
Wolf Landyn Thibodeaux placed third at 126 pounds and scored 21.50 team points. In his third place match he claimed a 4-2 decision over Devin Bazinet of Basile.
Cody Manuel placed fourth at 145 pounds and scored 17 points for the Wolves.
Scoring 15 points and placing fifth at 152 pounds for the Wolves was Joshua Peltier.
At 220 pounds, Brennan McKnight placed sixth and scored nine team points.
Anthony Seaux also placed sixth while scoring 11 team points at 132 pounds.
Also adding team points were:
138 lbs. - Drake Constantin, 3 points;
160 lbs. - Austin Bohne, 1 point;
170 lbs. - Tanner Leger, 3 points.
182 lbs. - Andrew Arceneaux, 3 points.
