Travel back in time with this classic and timeless tale of the fun-spirited street urchin Aladdin and his comical friends Jammal the Camel and Baggey the Monkey as they strive to survive the Arabian streets.
The villainous Zoltan is up to no good once more in his personal quest for more power and fame, and this time he is in search of the legendary Golden Lamp of the Genie. However, Zoltan’s plan to capture the lamp goes astray as Omar, whose aid he has enlisted, is not worthy to enter the cave as warned by Sciva, the Guardian of the Cave of Kings.
It is then that Zoltan decides that his next plan for winning wealth and fame and becoming Sultan is to wed Princess Cassandra, so he and his two wisecracking sidekicks, Zirkle the Vulture and Hakeem the Hyena, follow her.
It is only when the beautiful and lovely Princess Cassandra decides to leave the palace and enter the common marketplace that she meets Aladdin and becomes intrigued by him.
Zoltan knows that Aladdin himself is the one Sciva foretold of to enter the cave. Once in the cave, Aladdin and his two friends find the Golden Lamp and magic ensues.
The entertaining comical genie appears to grant Aladdin his heart’s desire - the love of Princess Cassandra. So with his entourage of servants, Genie grants Aladdin his wishes and the festivities proceed.
Under Director Machelle Booty, the cast is comprised of ten seniors - Aaron Bertand, Tyler Bourgeois, Zaner Cluse, Tyler Credeur, Amber Hayes, McKenzie Jabusch, Alex LeBouef, Ny’Asiah Sonnier, DylanVasseur and Christian Wesley; six juniors - Keisha Ali, Meghan Medus, Katelyn Richey, Courtney Suire, Robert Taunton and Amber Wilson; six sophomores - Luke Arsement, Aaron Booty, Kenderick Francis, Nathan Guidry, Katelyn Richard and Justin Simon; and three freshmen - Tony Arsement, Angelique Bieri, and Jasmine LeMaire.
This play is being dedicated in loving memory to Breanna Kennedy, a Crowley High School sophomore who passed away earlier this school year.
The Crowley High School Drama Club invites you to come out and take this fun-filled magical journey with them.
