Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel for Linda Ann Wingate, 62, who passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at her residence in Mire.
Rev. Dayne Huval, pastor of Oases Family Worship Center, conducted the funeral services.
Burial took place in Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery in Mire.
Ms. Wingate, a resident of Mire, was the daughter of the late Bernard Himel and the former Genevieve Mire.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Dupuis and husband, Rodney, of Mire; one son, Richard Wingate and wife, Lisa, of Scott; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Michael, Donald, Amber and, Gabrielle Wingate and Paige Begnaud; one great-granddaughter, Delilah Wingate; five brothers, Joseph Bernard Himel, Sr., Raymond Himel both of Lafayette, Loveless Himel and wife, Terry, of Chico, Tx, Alfred Himel and wife, Jackie, of Jennings and Dale Michael Himel of New Iberia; five sisters, Joanna Owens and husband, Russell, Mona Guillory and husband Daniel, all of Lafayette, Theresa Folds of Mire, Jeanette Stelly and husband, Randy, of Carencro and Brenda Himel of Anaudville; her companion, Ennidge Lavergne of Mire and her friends, Oresta and Marylane of Mire.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dallas Wingate; one daughter, Elizabeth Guilbeaux; and three sisters, Bonnie Packett, Connie Himel and Gale Landry.
The family requested visiting hours be observed at Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne on Monday, March 4, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the funeral home. Visitation continued on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
