6 injured in Teche boating accident

Cecilia — Two adults and four children betwen the ages of 11 and 15 were bruised and scratched but otherwise unharmed after their boat capsized and sank in Bayou Teche in the evening on Thursday, March 26. According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, which is investigating, Jude Theriot of Henderson and his wife, Eula Aguirra, were traveling north in the bayou with the four children when boat, a crawfish skiff of undetermined length, apparently hit an obstacle in the water around 5 p.m.

All four children were wearing required flotation devices, LDWF said.

The victims were treated at two Lafayette hospitals.
