ALVIN, Tex. – The Louisiana State University Lady Bengals fell in a pair of 2-1 losses to Alvin Community College on Tuesday.
LSUE (13-25, 5-2) travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College today for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
In the first game, Alvin scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to grab the win.
LSUE grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth when Leigh Ann Jukes reached on an error, stole third and then scored on a throwing error by the catcher.
The Lady Dolphins tied the game when Sunny Wells singled and scored on a double by Sarah Hoffman.
Hoffman scored the winning run on a single by Erica Tindel.
Hannah Latiolais suffered the loss for the Lady Bengals as she struck out one, walked four and allowed two runs on seven hits.
Wells earned the win for the Lady Dolphins as she fanned six, walked two and allowed one run on four hits.
Emmalea Dugas and Jessica Cooper each went 1-for-4 in the loss, while Elizabeth Kaiser went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Candace Fairchild went 1-for-3 for the Lady Bengals.
LSUE took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of the finale when Dugas doubled and scored on a hit by Kami Hebert that was mishandled by the Alvin thirdbaseman Lauren Schultz.
The Lady Dolphins scored two runs in the bottom of the inning when Sarah Hoffman singled and Kristi Kelley doubled.
The Alvin duo then scored on Kristi Keller’s two-out single.
Fagan Willoughby was handed the loss as she allowed two runs on five hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
Keller earned the win as she fanned two, walked one and allowed one run on seven hits.
Dugas went 1-for-2 for LSUE, while Cooper was 1-for-4.
Kaiser, Fairchild and Chasity Fontenot all went 1-for-3 for the Lady Bengals.
Lindsey Babin went 1-for-2 in the loss.
Keller and Kelley each went 2-for-3 for the Lady Dolphins.
