CROWLEY – An early morning traffic stop has led to the recovery of 4 kilo’s of cocaine according to Crowley Chief of Police K.P. Gibson. Shortly after midnight on April 10th, officers working the L.A.C.E. program on Interstate 10, stopped a vehicle for traffic violations.

During the stop, officers became suspicious of statements being made by the occupants. This led officers to obtain permission to search the vehicle, where the 4 kilo’s of cocaine was located and recovered.

Names of the suspects have not been released as of this time as an additional investigation has begun due to this recovery. The street value of recovered cocaine is $80,000. “Though we are working mainly traffic on Interstate 10, our officers realize that their presence may lead to stopping other criminal activity, such as narcotics and other illegal operations which travel through I-10 and into our community,” stated Chief Gibson.

An update to this case will follow as the investigation allows.
