The scholarship is awarded in memory of Mrs. Mary Grace Pete, a former citizen of the Acadia Parish community. She held higher education in very high esteem, encouraged and assisted needy youth of her church and community to pursue college careers and was among the founders of the local Head Start Program.
Applications for the scholarship are available from the counselors at the high schools in the parish. To qualify, students from religious homes must be nominated by their pastor, priest, rabbi or religious leader. Letters of nomination, accompanied by transcripts of academic credits earned, should be sent to: The Memorial Education Foundation, 620 North M.L. King Jr. Drive, Eunice, LA 70535.
The Memorial Educational Foundation is a non-profit corporation founded by the Pete Family of Crowley and chartered by the State of Louisiana. One of the purposes of the Foundation is to assist and encourage needy students to continue their education.
