St. Martinville – St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s deputies made a substantial drug bust on Wednesday, April 23 along Interstate 10.

A cache comprised of 132 pounds of marijuana was confiscated after Amber Grunwald, 41, of San Antonio, Texas, was pulled over during a routine traffic stop.

Grunwald stated several inconsistencies about her travel plans, which prompted a search of her car. The deputy used a K-9 to locate the contraband found in the rear of the vehicle.

Grunwald was charged with improper display of license plate, obstruction of driver’s view and possession with intent to distribute schedule I control dangerous substance over 400 grams.

Her passenger, Mario Hernandez, 37, of San Antonio, Texas, was charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule I control dangerous substance over 400 grams.
