Narcotics detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted operations in Palmetto, Opelousas and Eunice, according to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. Among the five arrested was Junior Dallas Richard, 912 Second St., Mamou, who was charged with distribution of a Schedule III controlled dangerous substance (lortab).
Guidroz said, “During the final operation, the detectives arranged to purchase prescription pills (lortabs) from an Evangeline Parish Police Jury employee, Richard, the regional supervisor, for the Evangeline Parish Police Jury.” Richard allegedly met with an undercover agent in Eunice, and during the meeting Richard sold a substantial quantity of Lortabs to an undercover agent. The detectives then arrested Richard without incident.
Sheriff Guidroz stated the street value of all of the drugs seized, in this series of operations, was approximately $1,000. Guidroz also stated, the currency seizure was a blow to the dealer’s organization. This currency can no longer be used to facilitate the purchase of additional, illegal drugs.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, Narcotics Unit, is funded in part, by funds from the Louisiana Crime Commission and the Evangeline Law Enforcement Council.
