Gladys Venable
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Gladys Venable, 81, of Rayne, who died at 12 noon Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at her home here.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2, Rayne.
Visitation was observed Tuesday from, 12 noon until 10 p.m . and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty and her husband Caffery Hollier, Rayne; one son, Dewey and his wife Wanda Venable, New Iberia; three brothers, Levorel Meche, Rayne; Emar Meche, Rayne, and Ewell Meche, Cankton; four sisters, Mary Sonnier, Scott, Laurence Constantine, Lafayette, Gerliss Meche, Rayne, and Ancy Broussard, Kaplan; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Terry Meche, Joey Sonnier, Lucas Broussard, Brent Constantine, Donald Comeaux and Mitch Meche.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeffery Trahan, Jr., and Lauren Hollier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Joseph Venable; her parents, Clementine Richard and Norbert Meche; one brother, Roosevelt Meche; one sister, Rosa Belle Meche; and one grandson, Dennis Hames Hollier.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of arrangements.
