Sittig said Gov. Bobby Jindal will appoint a successor to serve until an election next April to fill Sittig’s unexpired term. It ends on Dec. 31, 2010.
Sittig said he views the LOOP post as an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
“The people of this district have been good to me as a Public Service Commissioner and a state representative,” he said, but he viewed the LOOP post as an unique opportunity.
The post pays $101,000 a year. The PSC pay is $45,000.
Sittig said the change will be effective as early as Sept. 15, as late as Oct. 1.
