Kaplan—Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Joseph Leo Richard, 79, who died Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital.
He was laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon Paul Roy Eleazar officiating the services.
Leo was the owner of Gulfway Sporting Goods for 30 years. He also owned L & R Construction Company.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lelia Landry Richard of Kaplan; two sons, Chester Richard and his wife Joyce and Russell Richard and his wife Phyllis “Mike”, all of Kaplan; one daughter, Loretta R. and her husband Dale Bell of Kaplan; one sister, Lollie Desormeaux of Port Arthur, Texas; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orelous Richard and the former Ozite Decuire.
