DREAM TEAM! Loranger Wolves #2 Taylor Abdalla and #21 Eric Brown proved to be a great pair in their homecoming game against St. Thomas last Thursday, October 2. Although the Falcons came out on top with a 42-26 score the Wolves were most certainly heard and felt. With Abdalla's passing ability and Brown's skills at catching and running the Wolves gave one heck of a fight to the Falcons.

LORANGER – In the best match-up of all Thursday Night Games the 5th ranked Class 2A St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons traveled just a few miles away from their campus in Hammond to invade Rusty Chambers Memorial Stadium in Loranger to face the 3A Wolves.

The Wolves were celebrating Homecoming 2008 and wanted to treat the home fans to a big win. But the scrappy Falcons had other things in mind as they came away with a big 42-26 win over the Wolves.

For the third straight week the Wolves were in good shape in the second half of the ball game and for the third straight week Loranger had a difficult time of putting it all together in trying to pick up their second win of the season.

Down 14-0 in the first half Coach Sam Messina’s Wolves exploded in the second quarter and got right back in the game by scoring two touchdowns. Loranger used a gritty effort from Running Back Eric Brown to get back in the game and hang around for a while.

Brown carried the ball 17 times for 79 yards in the Wolves loss to the Falcons. The Wolves got back in the game with two big TD’s in the first half. Loranger went on a 69-yard drive that ended when Taylor Abdalla threw a 10-yard strike to Blayne Griffin for a touchdown and then Loranger tied the score when Abdalla scored on a one-yard run to help tie the game at 14-14.

STA would then reclaim the lead in the third quarter when they went ahead 21-14 but the Wolves would come right back and answer and cut the STA lead to 21-20. But then the Falcons erupted and built a 35-20 lead and went on to win the game 42-26.

The Wolves now fall to 1-3 overall on the season and are at home again this weekend as they open district 10-3A play by playing host to the Jewel Sumner Cowboys. Eric Brown rushed for 79-yards on 17 carries in the game for the Wolves.
