The driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Arthur Driskill, of Kaplan, was headed northbound on La. 35 around 4:30 a.m. when the accident happened.
Police say Driskill, for unknown reasons, drove of the roadway to the right in a left curve and traveled through a ditch.
He struck a stop sign and utility pole before the vehicle stopped.
The Vermilion Parish Coroner’s office pronounced Driskill dead at the scene.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in this crash.
