MAMOU - The Mamou Police Department reported eight recent arrests.

The following persons were charged:

•Sonny Richard, 46, 113 Railroad St., Mamou, was charged November 6, with careless operation, driving left of center and open container. Richard was released on a bond.

•Samuel James Ardoin, no age given, 1729 Pine St., Mamou, was charged November 6, with distribution of marijuana. Ardoin was transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail.

•Dickie James Fontenot, 52, 1208 Kennedy, Mamou, was charged November 6, with simple battery. Fontenot was released on a bond.

•Dean Coleman, 31, 398 Catholic Lane, Clarence, was charged November 8, with suspended affidavit. Coleman was released on a bond.

•Hilton Sampey, 22, 716 Third St., Lot B, Mamou, was charged November 9, with introducing contraband into the jail. At press time, no bond information was available.

•Tiarra Tonisha Anderson, 29, 1501 Chris St., Mamou, was charged November 10, with careless operation and hit and run. Anderson was transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail.

•Joshua Paul Granger, 22, 601 Chestnut St., Apt. 1, Mamou, was charged November 10, with disturbing the peace in a violent and tumultuous manner. Granger was released on a bond.

•Joshua Andrus, 18, 913 Main St., Mamou, was charged November 10, with disturbing the peace by language. Andrus was released on a bond.
