Popular Cajun musician Jamie Bergeron lost his home to a fire early Friday morning. The fire occurred at around 4 a.m. while Bergeron was away at work. Bergeron’s mother was in the residence at the time of the fire but was able to escape unharmed.

Acadia Parish officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Fire departments had to transport water by truck to get the fire under control. Two cars at the residence were also damaged.

An account has been set up to help Bergeron in his time of crisis and donations can be made at any Rayne State Bank Branch. The account number is 1260098.

All of Bergeron’s weekend show’s are still scheduled to go on as planned.

A fundraiser will be held Sunday, December 14 2008 at the Rayne Civic Center. Details will be announced at a later date.
