JENNINGS – As expected, the body located in Jefferson Davis Parish has been positively identified as being that of 17-year old Brittney Gary. Gary had been missing since November 2. As of this time, preliminary autopsy results have not been released to law enforcement.

Gary is the seventh female body found dumped on the side of a rural road in that parish in the past three years.

Officials have yet to develop any solid leads in the cases and warn all residents of Jennings to be on alert.

The Jefferson Davis Sheriff says he’s not labeling the killings as the act of a serial killer just yet, mainly because he cannot connect all the murders to a single person. He says his office is working closely with Jennings Police, State Police and the FBI.

The agencies meet every Monday to discuss any developments in all seven cases, and possible new leads to follow.

The victims were similar in that they all lived high-risk lifestyles that involved drugs and in some cases prostitution. There have also been reports that many of the victims knew each other.

Brittney Gary was related to one of the dead women found in 2005.
