Shuff thanks voters of Ward One

Dear Editor,

I would like to take a few minutes to express my gratitude and to tell you how proud I am of the way you, the “Voters of Ward One” responded to an excessive, one sided tax that could have been worked out in a common sense manner, but for a few wanna-be politicians that wanted the cake, icing and eat it all. You, the voters of Ward One really stuck together through these three elections in 12-and-a-half months. There is no way to really express my gratitude to all who voted “no” except just to say “thank you.” You also need to thank yourselves and your neighbors because we were all in this boat together.

There are a few ladies and a few men I would like to say a great big “thank you” to because you really went above and beyond the call of duty. To you young ladies, who worked the phones for us, “thank you,” I hope you learned a good civics lesson. You see in this country, the school board works for the tax payers, not the other way around. We as voters and tax payers really owe you.

Property/business owners, be proud of yourselves for the fight that we gave the federal judge, the justice dept. and the school board. Maybe, just maybe, these people will see that you just can’t rip off nor ignore the taxpayers and their input for alternative solutions whenever they feel like it. I think “We” made a great stand. “ Thank You” for standing up for our town.

In closing, I would like to state a fact, this is not an opinion. It is you, the voters who defeated this abusive, excessive, one-sided tax for the third time in 12-and-a-half months. In our democracy, that means the “majority” of the population of Ward One have firmly spoken.

Once again, Thank You and may God bless you all,

Mark W. Shuff
