Organizers are asking local residents to donate blood for Callie Brunett who will need blood and blood components this Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Shanty Town Strip Mall in Loranger.

An Ochsner Blood mobile will be there. Organizers said donors for Callie will receive a mini physical, cholesterol test, and a blood bank t-shirt. Organizers also said that individuals taking medication for high blood pressure or cholesterol can donate, and those individuals with diabetes and are not insulin dependent can donate.

"Please come donate. Give a great gift of giving for Christmas," said Tuffy Campbell. "Callie has been in the hospital for 2 months. She needs your help."

Donors are encouraged to eat a healthful meal prior to and after donating. Picture ID is now required. For more information, contact Tuffy at (985) 320-4424.
