Results of the December election of FSA committee members for 2009 were recently announced by Susan Tortorich, current chairperson of the Farm Service Agency (FSA) Committee for Evangeline Parish.

Farmers elected to the Committee in Evangeline Parish were: Blyn Rozas, three-year term on county committee; Greg Tate, three-year term as first alternate in LAA-1; and Hurley Mose Jr., three-year term as second alternate in LAA-1.

“FSA County Committees are charged with the local administration of national farm programs which includes commodity price support loans and payments; conservation programs; incentive, indemnity and disaster payments for some commodities; and emergency programs,” Tortorich said.

An organizational meeting to elect the chairperson and vice-chairperson will be conducted at the first county committee meeting in January 2009.
