The theme for this year’s parade is “Louisiana Legends.” Pre-parade entertainment begins 9:40 a.m. with two upcoming country music artists from Oak Grove and Vicksburg.
The officials will open the parade at 10 a.m. and then the grand parade will kick off at 10:30 a.m. in front of Thomson’s Drug Store. All mayors, sheriffs, town officials and police jurors present and past in northeast Louisiana are welcome to come and join in as dignitaries on the reviewing stand in downtown Delhi on parade day.
In the meantime, organizers have released the following rules for horse clubs and ATV and four-wheeler riders wishing to take part in the parade.
Horse riding clubs
To ride a horse in the Delhi Stock Show Parade one must ride with an organized group. The group must appear to be a group with a group name, all horses clean and presentable, (EIA) coggins papers on hand, the group must have a dress code and synchronized riding with a group leader. Horses must appear healthy and well groomed. Entry forms are available at Delhi City Hall. An entry form must be filled out in order to ride in the parade.

Horses’ (EIA) coggins papers may be randomly checked by State Officials. Those who cannot present papers will not be allowed to ride in the parade.
While in route in the parade one must not leave gaps. There will be no freestyle riding, no holding back and no back tracking and no riding double.
ATVs and four wheelers
To ride an ATV/4 Wheeler in the parade participants must call Larry Houston at 366-5261. He will then advise riders of proper attire and all rules and regulations. The equipment must be in good running condition with minimum pollution. One must fill out an entry form to ride in the parade and ride as an organized group. Entry forms are available at Delhi Town Hall.
Participants are to meet Houston 9:30 a.m. Feb. 6 at the Old Charter School Office and Duckworth Laundry Mat with their machines gassed up and ready to ride in the parade. There will be no riding up and down the streets from 9:30 a.m. until parade time at 10:30 a.m.
Organizers are stressing the idea of safety first for horses, riders and spectators. No matter what participants are riding, participants are reminded they must know the rules and regulations and abide or they will be asked not to participate. No candy or trinkets will be thrown in the parade.
