NS-DAR meets in Whitman home

Boeuf River Chapter, NSDAR, met November 17,2008 in the home of Carolyn Whitman with Lennis Waite co- hostess. Members enjoyed delicious refreshments during a social period prior to the meeting.

Regent Angela Hales called the meeting to order and led the ritual.

The National Defense message “ Why we should Thank a Veterans” was read by Frances Gladney. Veterans defend, protect, and procured our freedom and our Flag. Blood sweat and tears, great sacrifice earned our freedom.

Treasurer Dorothy Le Guin gave her report.

An article by George Washington on Thanksgiving was read by Bettina Matthews

A request for bake sale items for the Rhymes Library was read.

Program for the afternoon was Toni Rodgers of Tusquahoma Chapter and Genealogical Records at the State level presented very interesting fact.

Each chapter is suppose to submit five pages of Genealogy to the state Bibles, court house records, Births, Marriages, deaths supply information, Zerox the front page, show when published, cover, pages and year published.

Mr. Rogers brought several copies of the books filled with information. Valuable records from family Bibles need to be copied.

We were glad to have Charlotte Durrett, Lennis Wait’s niece from Arcadia, La. and Mrs. Rogers from West Monore, La.

All business taken care of the meeting adjourned.
