Iota crushes Lady Yellow Jackets; Christian slips past Bethel

IOTA – The Iota Lady Bulldogs improved to 23-10 on the season and 4-3 in District 4-AAA play Tuesday with a 69-29 rout of Iowa.

Allison Baggett and Katie Latiola paced the Lady Dogs’ attack, combining for 27 of Iota’s 69 points.

Baggett scored 10 points and Latiola added six in the first half to help propel the Lady Dogs to a 33-7 advantage at the break.

Iowa failed to score in the second quarter.

Baggett also led the charge in the third quarter, scoring seven points to help increase the Lady Dogs’ cushion to 53-13.

Iota emptied the bench in the fourth quarter with the reserves trading baskets with Iowa over the final eight minutes. Each team scored 16 points.

Baggett led all scorers with 17 points and Latiola had 10.

Also contributing in the victory were Jade LeJeune with nine; Dominiqua Thomas with eight; Tori Stroderd and Katelyn Regan each with seven; Anna Lege with six; Candace Sensat with three and Justine Simar with two.

Iota rounds out the regular season Friday at Jennings.

In other local action the Northside Christian Warriors picked up a 51-44 victory over District 7-C foe Bethel.

Northside improved to 15-15 overall and 2-1 in district with the victory.

The Warriors led 16-2 in the first quarter before Bethel cut the lead to 26-16 at the break.

Bethel tailed 33-32 entering the fourth quarter but Northside outscored the Eagles 18-12 in the final stanza.

Levi Hahn paced the Warriors with 10 points and Pierce Rivera scored 14. Grant Williams followed with seven points, Ian Willis added six and Josh Wheeler scored five.

The Warriors travel to Assembly Christian Friday.
