The Rayne High Wolves fell 69-50 to the Crowley Gents Tuesday night during district 5-3A action.

Darius Bonnom led Rayne High scorers with 21 points on the night. Vincent Sinegal dropped in eight, Justin Jolivette hit five and Brock Nolan donated four.

Crowley was led by Dexter Scott with 18 points, along with Jerell Andrus for 15.

The Wolves will complete their regular schedule of games Friday as they travel to Church Point to meet the Bears.

During district action Friday night in Crowley, the Wolves and Lady Wolves met Notre Dame, seeing the Pios and Lady Pios defend their home court with wins.

In boys’ action, the Pios jumped out to a 17-6 first quarter lead and never looked back for a 46-34 win.

Leading the Pios’ scoring were Morgan Allen with 17 points, Charlie Ropp with nine, Taylor Thibodeaux turning in eight, and six points apiece by Nick Zaunbrecher and Robert Johnson.

The Wolves were led by Darius Bonhomme and Patrick Gabriel each with 11 points, followed by Vincent Sinegal with eight, Justin Jolivette with five, Scott Nolan and Paul Charles each with a bucket, and Ryan Perry with a free throw.

In girls’ action, the Lady Pios claimed a 54-32 win over the Lady Wolves.

Notre Dame was led by Celia Charles and Kylie Pannell scoring 20 and 14 points, respectively. Assisting were Taylor Simon with eight points, Chelsea Meaux with six, Caroline Stewart scoring four and Catherine Parsley with a bucket.

The Lady Pios will travel to Northwest High School today (Thursday) for first round action of the 2008-2009 state playoffs. The contest is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at the Northwest High gym with admission $5 each.
