CROWLEY – Crowley High’s annual Gilbert Tevy Memorial Diamond Classic is in full swing with four games on tap for today’s second-round action at Miller Stadium.

Action got underway last night with Rayne taking on Iota in the opener and Crowley taking on Westminster in the nightcap. However, results weren’t available at press time.

The tournament consists of two pools with the winner of each pool earning championship honors. Included in the first pool are Crowley, Dunham, Wesminster and Pineville. The second pool is made up of Iota, Welsh, Rayne and Simpson.

Today’s action consists of four games which will be 1 1/2 hour time limits or five innings, whichever comes first.

Iota will kick things off at 3 o’clock when the Bulldogs take on Welsh. Westminster and Pineville follow at 4:45 before Welsh hits the field again at 6:30 to take on Simpson. Crowley will again play in the nightcap, taking on Class AA’s eighth-ranked Dunham at 8:45.

Saturday’s final-round action consists of six games. Welsh and Rayne will get things started at 9 a.m. followed by a contest between Iota and Simpson at 10:45. Crowley High kicks off the afternoon session at 12:30 p.m. with a game against Pineville and Dunham will take on Westminster at 2:15. Rayne and Simpson will square off at 4 p.m. before Pineville and Dunham play in the finale at 5:45.

Admission for the tournament is $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under.
