On Saturday, February 14, 2009 family and friends of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Landry gathered at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne to help the couple celebrate 50 years of marriage.

Mr. and Mrs. Landry were originally married on February 7, 1959 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne. Mrs. Landry is the former Miss Norma Jean Guillot.

They are the proud parents of six children to includeGwen Jo Landry, Joel Ellis Landry, Fay Alision (Missy) Smith, Mona Lynn Williams, Michael Jude Landry, I, and Cheryl Ann Landry.

On her special day the honoree was attired in a two-piece suit featuring black dress pants and a red coat in remembrance of their wedding colors. She was presented with a corsage of tiny white sweetheart roses accented with red holly and adorned with gold and white ribbon, while her husband of fifty years was given a boutonniere of coordinating roses embellished with baby’s breath.

The couple and their guests enjoyed a delicious cake consisting of a two-tiered white confection accentuated with white sweetheart roses and gold leaves. Topping the delicacy was a white wedding bell and tulle creation. The cake was a smaller replica of the couple’s actual wedding cake fifty years ago.

Approximately 35 guests attended. Among them were Jo Cart and Bobby Chassion who were honored as their special guest of the night. The two special guest are longtime friends of the couple who are responsible for their very first introduction fifty plus years ago.
