Collecting the win on the mound for the Lady Wolves was Mariel Meche who threw two strike outs, one walk, and four hits, behind a somewhat sloppy defense who gave up four fielding errors.
Despite the fielding errors, the Lady Wolves held the Lady Gents scoreless for the 11-0 district win.
Tori Mott cross the plate for the Lady Wolves for Rayne’s first score of the game, late in the first inning.
Brittany Thibodeaux scored in the second frame for a 2-0 Rayne lead, followed by a run by Mariel Meche as she lifted one over the outfield wall for a homerun.
The fourth inning broke things loose for the Lady Wolves as five runners tagged home for scores, including Mott, Kelsey Hollier, Skyla Schexnider, Courtney Johnston and Ava Stutes.
The fifth and final inning saw Mott, Shandi Deville and Stutes tag home for the final scores for the win.
The Lady Wolves are scheduled to visit Church Point today (Thursday), followed by the Sulphur Tournament over the weekend. The Notre Dame district game originally scheduled for Tuesday has been switched to Wednesday, March 18, at home at Gossen Memorial Park.
In other action, the Lady Pios improved to 5-7 on the season last week with a 3-0 home victory over the Kaplan Lady Pirates.
The shutout victory was the second of the week for the Lady Pios, who blanked South Beauregard at home Tuesday, 4-0.
Hurler Lanie Hollier earned the win on the mound for Notre Dame.
Leading at the plate for the Ladies were Taylor Simon who led stats at 2-for-3 including a double and triple. She also scored two of the three Lady Pio runs.
Alex Boulet was 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI, and Caroline rounded out the offense with a single.
