The action of the play Steel Magnolias is set in Chinquapin, La. in Truvy’s beauty salon, where all the female characters in the play go to have their hair done. Filled with hilarious dialogue and not a few sarcastic but humorously revealing verbal conflicts, the play turns tragic when, in the second act, one of the characters dies. The others are affected by their sudden realization of mortality, but they also draw on their underlying love and strength to get through.
Auditions will be held at the Crowley Flower Shop on Monday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 18 beginning at 6 p.m. The cast consists of six women, all over the age of 18.
