RAYNE – In August of 2008, Mason Menard suffered a first-round knockout while fighting in front of his hometown crowd at the Rayne Civic Center.

He vowed that would never happen again - not in his town.

Unfortunately for Leo Perez, Menard was right.

Menard (7-1, 5 KOs), fighting in the main event of a six-fight card at the Civic Center, landed a left hook to Perez’s body, followed by another hook to the chin that sent him crumbling to the canvas Saturday just 50 seconds into the first round to earn his fifth knockout in eight fights.

Jarred LeBlanc (10-0, 7 KOs), another local favorite, also brought the capacity crowd to their feet with a second round technical knockout of Anthony Adams.

Thomas Dardar’s non-stop pressure and relentless attack was too much for Richard Dinkins in the opening bout as Dardar walked away with a second-round TKO.

Jessie Patin’s professional debut against Ernest Parfait was halted early and ruled a no contest while Gundrick King earned a four-round unanimous decision over Charles Simms.

Also, Lafayette’s Brad Solomon (8-0, 3 KOs) manhandled Thomas Davis to coast to a six-round unanimous decision.
