Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Joseph Hensgens, Sr. of Crowley proudly announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Valerie Elizabeth Hensgens to Matthew Maurice Lyons, both of Crowley.

Valerie is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Braxton I. Moody III and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hensgens, Sr. all of Crowley.

She is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Crowley and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she obtained a bachelors of science degree in communication disorders.

Matthew is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Francis Lyons, Sr. of Jennings. He is the grandson of Mrs. Ruby V. Lyons and the late John A. Lyons, Sr. of Welsh, and Mrs. Lena May Oustalet and the late A.J.M. “Bubba” Oustalet, Jr. of Jennings.

He is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where he obtained a bachelor of science degree in finance. He is employed as an account manager for Nestle USA.

Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will officiate as the couple exchanges vows during a candlelight ceremony on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 7 p.m. Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings will provide the setting.
