CROWLEY – District action continues to heat up locally on the prep basketball scene with a number of key league matuchups slated for this evening.

On the boys’ side, the Crowley Gents look to continue their 8-game winning streak as well as remain perfect in league play when they travel to Prairie Rhonde for a 5-3A contest.

Crowley enters the contest at 14-6 overall and 2-0 in league play after dominating victories over Westlake (67-26) and Eunice (80-40). Northwest is currently 12-10 overall and 1-1 in league play following Tuesday’s 67-51 loss to Iowa.

“It’s always important to get off to a good start in district so this game is big for us,” said CHS coach Derrick Boone. “This is a very big game. It’s almost a must-win for us if we want to achieve our goal of winning a district championship.”

In other big games, Class B’s No. 1 ranked Midland (26-3, 3-0) will host Bell City (16-14, 2-1) and Notre Dame will travel to Kaplan to take on the Pirates in a 5-3A showdown.

In girls’ action, Notre Dame’s No. 6 ranked Lady Pios (16-6, 2-1) will take on No. 11 Kaplan while Class 2A’s Iota Lady Bulldogs (19-11, 6-0) will play host to Welsh.

In other non-district action, Northside Christian will travel to Starks.
