Jane was a lifelong, devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Crowley, where she served on numerous committees. For over sixty years, she was a member of the, 3-10 Club of Crowley. Mrs. Omohundro was well known for her expert sewing and handwork skills, and was always willing to lend advice or encouragement to those that asked. She also had a reputation for being an excellent cook, and graduated from the Cordon Bleu in Paris. Sick and grieving friends and family could always expect her to show up with a tasty dish. Her love of gardening earned her Garden of the Month on numerous occasions. She also loved to travel with her husband, Jack, and went to almost every continent in the world.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of forty-three years, Jack H. Omohundro of Crowley; her daughters, Margaret Sauer and son-in-law, Larry Sauer of Lafayette, Edna delaHoussaye and son-in-law, Marque delaHoussaye of Crowley; her son, Wayne E. Williams of Crowley; two step-sons, Jack H. Omohundro, Jr. and wife Judy of Las Vegas, NV, Richard Omohundro and wife Sheryll of Granby, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert Sauer, Genevieve delaHoussaye, Gus delaHoussaye, Jack Michael Omohundro, Mary Jane Omohundro, Chris Omohundro, Laura Martien and great-grandchildren, Emily Jane Martien and Isabella Martien.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Genevieve Thomson, her aunt and uncle, Byron and Edna Thomson, her brother, George B. Thomson, and her step children, Robert “Larry” Omohundro and John “Jay” Omohundro.
Pallbearers will be Larry Sauer, Robert Sauer, Marque delaHoussaye, Gus delaHoussaye, Jack Omohundro, Jr. and Richard Omohundro. Honorary pallbearers will be “Bo” McNeely, Buster Muller, Donald Jones, Jimmy Buatt, Byron Core and Kenneth Privat.
Special thanks go to Dr. Katira, Dr. Michael Holland, and caregivers Verna Simon, Jenny Semenuk and Chayla Dudoet. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Crowley or the charity of your choice.
The family requests visiting hours Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Crowley. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery
