The Gents banged out 14 hits in the contest that was halted after the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.
Brian Broussard paced the Gents’ offense with a 3-for-3 performance that included two triples and five RBI.
Brody Deshotel also had three hits, including a double and three RBI while Tayor Bertrand had two hits and two RBI. Jake Trahan and Chad Hoffpauir each had one hit while Justin Desselle and Blake Thibodeaux had one each.
Bertrand was credited with the victory on the mound, giving up one run on two hits in two innings.
Crowley will be in action again Thursday when they travel to Iowa for a 6 o’clock showdown with the league leading Yellow Jackets.
In other local prep action, Northside Christian cruised to an 8-1 district victory over St. Joseph Monday afternoon in Plaucheville.
Northside improved to 13-4 overall and 4-0 in league play with the victory. It was the Warriors’ 10th straight win.
Jeremy Marceaux logged the victory, improving to 6-1 on the season. He gave up no runs on one hit and three walks while striking out seven in four innings.
Pierce Rivera, Tim Monte and Nick Gotte each collected two hits in the contest. Rivera also drove in three runs while Monte had one RBI.
Also contributing at the plate for the Warriors was Marceaux, Josh Wheeler and Joe Trahan with one hit and one RBI each while Matt Crochet rounded out the offensive onslaught with a single.
Northside will be in action again Tuesday when they travel to Elizabeth for a non-district contest.
