Tim Credeur of Breaux Bridge has qualified to be one of 16 mixed martial arts fighters who will appear on this season’s The Ultimate Fighter reality show aired on Spike TV. He earned the spot by beating Erik Charles a minute into their preliminary bout in last week’s episode. The show airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Spike. The season will culminate with alive show on June 21, pitting the two finalists against each other.

Credeur, 30, who has a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, took Charles down just seconds into their preliminary bout, improving his NMA record to 9-2.

Growing up in Louisiana, Credeur competed in both martial arts and boxing. However, it wasn’t until he joined the Navy at age 18 that he truly blossomed as an athlete. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt’s first fight came in 1995 and, since then, he has grown in both experience and in reputation as a quick finisher in the ring. In 11 bouts Credeur is yet to have one fight go past the first round. Now Credeur, a member of Louisiana’s Gladiator Academy, hopes to fulfill his lifelong dream and become “The Ultimate Fighter.”
