65th wedding anniversary party

Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Truax of Egan were honored with a 65th Anniversary party, which was held on Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at the couple’s home.

Mrs. Truax is the former Audrey Stanford and is the daughter of Ella Stanford and the late Oliver Stanford. She is a retired school principal.

Mr. Truax is the son of the late Annie and Charlie Truax, and is a retired Conoco Shift Foreman.

They are the parents of five children, Shelby Jean Traux of Houston; Glenda Thevis of Orange; Roderick Stanford Truax of Sulphur; Geralyn Pousson of Covington; and Deborah Hebert of Egan.

They are the proud grandparents of fourteen grandchildren, Amy Truax Sareen of Houston; Jacqueline and Gretchen Zaunbrecher both of Crowley; Craig Zaunbrecher of Hathaway; Bradley Zaunbrecher, Coby, Audrey, and Andrew Hebert, all of Egan; Chad Thevis of Elgin, Texas; Daniel Thevis of Houston; Roderick Stanford Truax II of Sulphur; Pamela Pousson and Christopher Pousson, and Ashley Pousson Hindman, all of Covington.

They are also blessed to have twenty great grandchildren, Ben, Joe and Mary Catherine Voitier, Angelica, Lacy, Jesslyn, Callie, and Blaine Zaunbercher, Caroline and Jack Cassedy, Shelly, Stefan and Shea Zaunbrecher, Alicia, Josh, Darro and Ella Thevis Neel and Lila Sareen and Bradley Michael Thevis, and one great great grandchild, Jon Luke Bendily.

The grandchildren served a buffet of pork roast, prime rib roast, rice dressing, bread, a shrimp mold, and quiche.

The table was covered with a lavender tablecloth overlaid with an ecru hand crocheted topper.

The strawberry and bavarian creme cake was covered with white roses, and crosses were placed on either side of the cake. Lavender flower arrangements were placed at vantage points throughout the home.

Thirty-five guests traveled from Houston, Elgin, and Orange, Texas, Hathaway, Covington, Crowley, and Sulphur to attend the party.
