LSU Eunice Nursing Student Crystal Yanna has been named Outstanding Student of the Year by the Louisiana Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (L-OADN). Yanna will graduate from the LSUE in May with an Associate Degree in Nursing and will take the state board exams to become a registered nurse. She was named the LSUE Student of the Year in Nursing and was then submitted as a candidate at the state competition.

“Nursing is my passion,” said the Lafayette resident and Kaplan native.

She already has an LPN diploma from Louisiana Technical College and a certificate as a pharmacy technician from the University of New Orleans. When she graduates from LSU in May and completes her board exams, Yanna will be a register nurse.

Yanna is currently working at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in the MedSurge/ICU and has recently accepted a position in Seattle in the ICU at Madigan Army Medical Center.

While at LSUE, she was a member the LSUE Student Nurse Association and currently serving as president of the group. She also served as the student nursing representative on the LSUE Curriculum Committee.

L-OADN is the leading state advocate for Associate Degree Nursing education/practice and promotes collaboration in charting the future of healthcare education and delivery.
