Shillow, police said, was not restrained when the grinding crash occured.
Cashen’s vehicle for an unknown reason crosssed the centerline shortly after 6 a.m. Friday into the path of a southbound truck driven by Willie Shillow, also of Mamou.
The relationship, if any, between the two Shillows was not noted by State Police.
Cashen and an unidentified passenger in his jeep were taken to hospitals with what were described as serious injuries.
Trooper David Anderson said alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in this crash and charges are pending against Cashen.
