James Trent Mouton, 22, was arrested by federal agents today, on charges of Production of Child Pornography, Possession of Child Pornography and Distribution of Child Pornography.
The arrests comes after a joint investigation between the two agencies.
In commenting on the arrest, Chief K.P. Gibson of the Crowley Police Department stated, “It is a sad fact that child pornography does exist in our time and place, and even more distressing to realize that it is occurring in our own city limits. However, we were pleased to collaborate with the F.B.I. in at least bringing this subject to justice and continuing to protect our young people.”
Gibson was adamant about his department’s efforts to continue battling this crime against young people. “We will not stop in our efforts to bring protection to the young people of our community from offenders like this. Our young people are faced with so many dangers today with the Internet, that we will continue to make the arrests of Internet predators, sex offenders, and those involved in child pornography a top priority. Wherever you are, we will find you and arrest you,” Gibson continued.
Mouton was transferred to the Federal Court House in Lafayette to await a hearing from Federal Magistrate Michael Hill.
