Firefighters conduct fundraiser

The Ville Platte Volunteer Firefighters sold barbecue sandwiches for its annual fundraiser Saturday, May 31. <!--break-->Volunteers cooked, prepared sandwiches and visited with the public. They also invited everyone to view some of their fire equipment. The firefighters have had a busy year preparing for a visit from the fire rating commissioner. Both Ville Platte and members of Fire District Two were successful in improving the area’s fire rating. The city’s rating improved from a class four to a class three rating. The district’s rating improved from a class six to a class five rating. Scenes from the fund raiser are shown here.
