The Ville Platte Volunteer Firefighters sold barbecue sandwiches for its annual fundraiser Saturday, May 31. Volunteers cooked, prepared sandwiches and visited with the public. They also invited everyone to view some of their fire equipment. The firefighters have had a busy year preparing for a visit from the fire rating commissioner. Both Ville Platte and members of Fire District Two were successful in improving the area’s fire rating. The city’s rating improved from a class four to a class three rating.
