Two Crowley residents were arrested in Kaplan last week for selling narcotics to an undercover agent.
Ralph David Burke, 60, and Christine Norwood, 38, of 420 Gum Street, Crowley were each charged with distribution of Schedule II (Ritalin) and distribution of Schedule IV (Xanax).
Seized were 90 Ritalin tablets and 25 Xanax tablets with a street value of over $300.
The subjects sold pills to an undercover narcotics agent at a Kaplan car wash and were immediately arrested by agents from the VermilionParish Municipal Narcotics Task Force.
No bond was set and both were transported to The Vermilion Parish Correctional Center and booked on the charges listed above.
In an unrelated inciddent, Camellia Wilson, 21, of 1005 N. Lemaire, Kaplan, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a legend drug, Soma.
Agents with the Vermilion Parish Narcotics Task Force received a call from the Abbeville Police Department in reference to a female they had arrested for shoplifting at a local convenience store.
After the arrest was initiated, suspected marijuana was located in the female’s purse along with a suspected controlled substance (pills).
Officers found three grams of suspected marijuana and six pills with a street value of $260.
Wilson was transported to the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center and booked.
The Vermilion Parish Narcotics Task Force also arrested Skyler Williams, 24, 205 12th St., Gueydan, for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
Narcotics agents were in Kaplan conducting an investigation when the agents saw a red Pontiac at the corner of Frederick and Fifth doing what appeared to be a narcotics transaction.
When the driver and occupants realized that a vehicle was following them they began to drive in a reckless manner. The car crashed and the occupants fled on foot. Task Force Agents apprehended the driver after a short foot pursuit and identified the driver as, Skyler Williams.
Other Task Force agents had secured the vehicle and saw in plain view a large amount of marijuana on the driver’s side floorboard. Agents also located a small amount of crack cocaine hidden inside the vehicle.
Seven ounces of suspected marijuana, 1.1 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and $331 were found in the vehicle.
Williams was arrested and booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center.
