PINE PRAIRIE - Two Pine Prairie men have been charged with simple burglary of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and First Baptist Church of Pine Prairie.

Christopher Seth Gardner, 19, 1531 Fourth St., and Aaron Simoneaux, 19, 1610 Ninth St., both of Pine Prairie, were arrested Sunday, August 17, on two counts each of simple burglary of a religious building.

Assistant Chief Rick Ordner learned August 17, the St. Peter’s Catholic Church had been burglarized. An investigation by Ordner and Officer Ron Carrier led officers to learn the church’s thrift shop and hall had been broken into. Severe property damage had occurred and items and money were taken.

The investigation led officers to Gardner and Simoneaux, who were also charged with the burglary of First Baptist Church, which occurred August 15.

Chief L.C. Deshotel thanked the public for its assistance during this investigation. He recognized his two officers for their professional and aggressive work in solving these two burglaries.
