The Jantzen plant payroll is $91,000 monthly and the firm is hiring people as rapidly as qualified applicants can be found, according to Ralph Cash.

Yvonne Tujague, president of the Chamber of Commerce, urged members to enroll in the Acadian Ambulance Service before the subscription deadline.

The 1,000th registrant at LSU at Eunice is Paula Moore of Eunice. Engineer Lindsey J. Aucoin said a project to four-lane an additional five miles of U.S. 190 west of Eunice is closer to reality as a result of an inspection by Highway Dept. officials.

The Eunice Sertoma Club members were guests at the new Moosa Hospital Cafeteria. Renovations in the older part of the hospital will be completed in six months.

Winning ribbons in a swimming competition at the country club in the 11-12 group were Angelle Fontenot, Tracey Hossley, Ann DeRouen, Susie Soileau, Kelly McManus, Michelle LaFleur, Pat Sanders, Randy Cormier, Paul Brown, Tiffany Cormier and Mark Leger.

Homecoming Court at St. Edmund High School has been chosen. The queen will be crowned on Oct. 7. Senior court members are Michelle Perron, Mary Miller, Tarrel LeJeune, Jennifer Gillette, Toni Clark and Karen Verzwyvelt.

Senior girls on the Eunice High Homecoming Court are Rhonda Roger, Kathy Batiste, Belinda LeJeune, Mandy Young, Belinda Fontenot, Kaye Fruge, Sharon Francois, Renee Fontenot, Denise Leonards, Debbie Reviere, Susan Chapman, Cindy Leger, Sissy Turk and Jackie Courville.

Officers of the Rodeo Club at Eunice High are Randy Turner, president; Danny Soileau, vice president; Sandra Thibodeaux, secretary; Kathy Boone, treasurer; and Layne Soileau, parliamentarian.

The Magnolia Social and Civic Club has donated trash barrels to be placed in the park by the Neighborhood Civil Center. Assisting were Tony Delafose, John Victor Delafose, Clema Frank, Beatrice Allen, Jo Ann Delafose and Nancy Jean Simon.

The first social men’s fraternity - Zeta Alpha Phi - has been organized at LSUE by Kyle Vidrine, Wendell Hollier, Greg Swint, Mitch Penn, Peter Fontenot and Jack Miller.

Estelle Perrault, associate professor of physical science at LSUE for 10 years, is leaving to become deputy assistant to the director of the Colleges and Universities.



Jeanne Bollich, a freshman sponsored by the Newman Club, was crowned Miss LSUE. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bollich of Eunice.

New teachers this fall at Eunice High include Lucille Lejeune, girls basketball coach; Jill Ward, math and speech; and Margaret Leger, math.
