Not even close.
The remarkable weekend began last Friday with Mamou’s 51-48 homecoming win over Northwest.
Rob Walker raced to 458 yards and five touchdowns on 35 carries, including a 97-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Walker now has 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns on 93 carries in four games.
Last year he gained 1,856 and 24 touchdowns on 236 carries, and now his senior campaign could be even better.
Saturday night in Monroe, Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns senior running back Tyrell Fenroy rushed for a school record 297 yards on only 20 carries in ULL’s nine-point victory at ULM.
Brian Mitchell previously held the Cajuns record with 271 rushing yards vs. Colorado State on Nov. 21, 1987.
Fenroy scored three touchdowns on runs of 89, 52 and 80 yards. He also had a nine-yard touchdown run called back late in the game.
For his efforts, Fenroy was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation Bowl Subdivision Offensive Player of the Week.
Maybe ULL should check out Walker’s antics before the season is over and talk him to filling Fenroy’s spot next season.
