Bernard killed in work accident

INTRACOASTAL CITY - A Kaplan man, who had worked for HIDCO for 11 years, was accidentally killed Tuesday morning when the truck he was working on accidently rolled on him, killing him instantly.

Earl Bernard, 64, was changing the brakes on a truck when the truck moved.

The accident occurred around 6:30 in the morning.

Larry Landry, owner and CEO of HIDCO, broke the news to Bernard’s wife, Venola, by driving to her house. The two had been married for 40 years.

Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan is handling the arrangements.

Visting hours will be Friday from noon until 10 p.m. and then on Saturday until time of services.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Kaplan.
