Four teenagers, including one juvenile, were arrested after stealing a vehicle from the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.
Arrested were:
•Adrien L. Roberts, 17, 221 Railroad Ave., Mamou
•Alonzo D. Jack, 17, 1412 Acadian St., Lot 1, Mamou
•Caleb T. Roberts, 17, 902 East St., Mamou
•And a 16-year-old male juvenile
Mamou Detective Caleb Semien said the vehicle, which belonged to the owner of the Piggly Wiggly store, was stolen between 4 and 5 p.m. Monday, December 22, by the juvenile. He said the juvenile then allegedly picked up the other three suspects and went on a brief joyride. Semien said the joyride did not last long before the suspects crashed the car into a ditch on Tiger Lane. Semien said the suspects allegedly fled the scene on foot.
The four individuals were quickly located and arrested, according to Semien, at approximately 6 p.m. that evening. The juvenile and the others confessed to the crime, Semien said.
All four individuals were charged with unauthorized use of a moveable. Semien added the juvenile will be transported to the St. Martinville Juvenile Detention Center and the other three suspects will be transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Distribution of crack cocaine
Regis Quentin Jack, 25, 224 Second St., Mamou, was charged Friday, December 19, with distribution of crack cocaine after an undercover narcotics investigation was conducted.
Semien said a confidential undercover informant successfully purchased crack cocaine from Jack on an undisclosed date and it led to Jack’s arrest. Arresting officer was Lt. Chris Godeaux.
Semien added Jack was transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.
